The Chicken Has Many Elbows

In 2006 Tom Barry embarked on his first project as a sole director

While training at drama school he worked with four actors (including Ben Moores) on a project based around workshops and improvisation

During the intensive improvisations the name of the project evolved: "The Chicken Has Many Elbows", the only phrase the actors were allowed to use during one of the sessions

The work reached a conclusion as a one hour open improvisation in front of a lunch time audience who came and went as they pleased

Not only did the project provide Tom with a platform to begin his process as a director, but it also expanded into the companies third Edinburgh Fringe production: "To Be Conformed".

“Intriguing as it is confusing, and those looking for something slightly off the beaten track would benefit from giving it a chance”

"Churning up the soul with a pulsating beat"

“Each performer demonstrates their point with remarkable strength and agility”

“Comic and mesmeric”

“It may be baffling, but it is enjoyably so, as the delighted puzzlement in the bar afterwards attested. I think this may be a show I'll still be mulling over long after the Fringe has moved on”

“Aspects of our lives are ripped apart in glorious satire”

“Coming across as something between cabaret, sketch show comedy, improvisation, dance and story-telling”
