To Be Conformed

TBC Show Collage1

The company's third show at the Fringe in Edinburgh.

To be conformed... marked a change in direction and an ambitious step for Just add water. To be conformed Flyer

Having shared performing, producing and directing between two or three people for their previous shows, they looked to expand their process.

Tom directed a student project (The Chicken Has Many Elbows), preparing four actors for a 60 minute improvisation. A much larger, more ambitious and demanding project was to be spawned from this small one-off mid-day performance. Tom wanted to go further so he offered to produce and direct Just Add Water's next show himself.

Tom decided to expand and develop the process for 'The Chicken Has Many Elbows'. Over the following 6 months, working with 14 actors, dancers and percussionists, Tom managed to find an inspiring cast of 6 for a 22 performance run in an exciting venue at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The run was an epic journey for all involved, forcing new limits of creativity, physical excersion and emotional strain. On their return all 7 went in their own ambitious directions. Excelling in; theatre, comedy, media, dance, teaching and directing.

2007 Edinburgh Fringe Festival review:

"Coming across as something between cabaret, sketch show comedy, improvisation, dance and story-telling, the fears and issues which dominate the lives of many performers (and dramatic types) are explored by this likeable ensemble. Fusing so many elements into one hour... they skilfully skip through the various genres they encompass... the actors are clearly versatile... intriguing as it is confusing, and those looking for something slightly off the beaten track would benefit from giving it a chance"
